AIl songwriters and poets are invited to join a new songwriting club, Foothills Song Writers Troupe, with meetings on the first Sunday of every month at 2 p.m. This group is for encouragement, growth and sharing the love of writing. All genres of music and levels of playing are welcome. Just ask to join the private Facebook group (Foothills Song Writers Troupe) or call 403-333-8877. 

 

Sheep River Library summer camp registration is open. Go to sheepriverlibrary.ca. Under the 'Program and Events’ tab, click on ‘Children’ then ‘Summer Camps’ to find all the information about Art Adventures, Kids’ Choir and STEAM camps. 

 

The Town of Okotoks’ Environmental Education Centre hosts Nature Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. where activities focus on a different theme weekly. Upcoming topics include:  Birds (June 13) and Grasslands for National Indigenous Peoples Day (June 20). okotoks.ca                    

 

Join the Sheep River Library Drumming Circle on Friday, June 13 at 7 p.m. for an evening of shared rhythm and music. Join Dallas Dixon, an Indigenous drummer and singer, as he explains about traditional drumming circles. sheepriverlibrary.ca  

  

Okotoks Pride Week includes an all-ages dance at the Crystal Shores Beach House on Friday, June 13 at 7 p.m. and a Drag Brunch at the Best Western Plus Okotoks Inn & Suites on Sunday, June 15 at 11 a.m. 

    

The 2025 Okotoks Parade and Children's Festival will take place on Saturday, June 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year's theme is: Bring the Party to the Streets! Parade winds its way through Olde Town while the Children's Festival will take place at Ethel Tucker Centennial Park. okotoks.ca     

     

Chinook Country Quilters are hosting their annual Quilt Show and Tea on Saturday, June 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Okotoks. Admission: $5. Hand-crafted items for sale to support Cuddle Quilt Program.   

   

The second annual Fore Education Golf Tournament in support of the Friends of Foothills Schools Foundation will be held on Saturday, June 14 at Highwood Golf Club. foothillsfriends.ca    

    

The Okotoks Legion will hold meat draws (nine) every Saturday at the Elks Hall. Tickets are $1 and draws run from 1 to 3:30 p.m. There will be live music from 2 to 3:0 p.m.         

                             

A ‘Moms and Tots’ drop-in is held on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. at Okotoks Alliance Church. It's a time for moms to connect and do the mom journey together. okalliance.ca   

   

Picnic at the Piano, a free monthly concert series, will feature a performance by the Foothills Philharmonic Vocal Jazz on Wednesday, June 18 from noon to 1 p.m. at Olde Towne Plaza. okotoks.ca    

    

The Age-Friendly Speaker Series continues on Wednesday, June 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Okotoks & District Seniors Club with a presentation by Hear Right Canada on healthy hearing as we age. No registration required. okotoks.ca

FAIM entrepreneurs present a Spring Craft Market on Saturday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Okotoks FAIM office, 325 Woodgate Rd. Event will include a BBQ fundraiser for $7. 

 

The first annual Okotoks & District Chamber of Commerce Cornhole Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 21 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Best Western Plus Inn and Suites Okotoks. okotokschamber.ca   

   

The Town of Okotoks’ Spring Into Summer Festival takes place on Saturday, June 21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year, the Town is honouring National Indigenous People’s Day, and the event will feature Indigenous programming throughout the day. okotoks.ca  

  

Sheep River Library is hosting a National Indigenous Day Event on Saturday, June 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  There will be an interactive presentation by Walter MacDonald Whitebear, an Indigenous-led kitchen party and Indigenous games led by Russ Baker.  Register online, but drop-ins are welcome. sheepriverlibrary.ca      

      

A Dungeons and Dragons program open to all levels of experience will be held at the Okotoks Public Library on Saturday, June 21 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Register at okotokslibrary.ca. 
 

Celebrate Canada's birthday with breakfast at the DeWinton Hall on Tuesday, July 1 from 9 a.m. to noon. Enjoy a traditional western pancake breakfast with sausage, ham and all the fixins'. The Eagle radio DJ will supply the music. There will be children's face painting and games, a fire truck, antique cars and more. Breakfast tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children (under six are free).  

  

The Great Canadian Garage Sale takes place at St. Andrews United Church in DeWinton on Tuesday, July 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

 

The fourth annual Foothills Family Expo will be held on Saturday, July 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Foothills-Okotoks Regional Field House. There will be a market with over 90 vendors as well as a free Stampede pancake breakfast, pony rides, petting zoo, live entertainment and more. regionalfieldhouse.com 

 

The Foothills Shuffleboard Association invites people to the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex in High River to play drop-in floor shuffleboard. The season runs until Aug. 28, playing Mondays and Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and Thursdays at 1 p.m. Free lessons. Membership is $20 for the season. Email [email protected] for more information.    

    

Are you new to Okotoks and area, looking to meet new people and learn about the community? If so, consider attending a Women’s Newcomers meeting. They are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 20 Banister Gate, Okotoks. The Sheep River parkrun, a free weekly five-kilometre run/walk, is held every Saturday at 9 a.m. The loop begins and ends at the picnic shelter in Sheep River Park, and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. sheepriverparkrun.ca                                                      

                                                       
Foothills Writers Group meets on the third Thursday of the month at the Okotoks Public Library from 6 to 8 p.m. The group is a community of local authors whose goal is to encourage and support writers during their creative journey. The group includes members new to the writing world and published authors. Anne Story of the Story Law Office runs a free clinic to provide legal advice about divorce and separation every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sheep River Library in Diamond Valley. Sheep River Library hosts a conversational French group on the first Thursday of the month from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Anyone is welcome to join the group to keep up your French speaking skills. Weekly Jam Sessions at the Okotoks and District Seniors Club are held on Fridays from 7 to 9 p.m. Musicians and singers are welcome as well as those that want to listen, sing along or dance to the tunes. Weekly 45-minute OM chanting sessions are held at the Okotoks Public Library to lift your energy and mood. Always free, open to drop-ins. A weekly Meditation Circle meets at 9:30 a.m. on Mondays at the Sheep River Library. A group of open-hearted folks gather with a shared intention to cultivate happiness and wellbeing within ourselves and our world. You can record, edit and upload your own podcasts at the Sheep River Library in Diamond Valley in its soundproofed recording space. Equipment and training are provided so you can get your podcasts out into the world. The Rotary Club of Okotoks meets on the first and third Wednesdays of every month at 6 p.m. at the Crystal Ridge Golf Club. okotoksrotary.ca                                                          

                                                          

An ELL (English Language Learning) class is held every Thursday from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. at the Okotoks Public Library. Learn vocabulary that will help you in everyday situations in classes facilitated by YMCA LINC instructor Deb Payne. The Okotoks Chess Club meets every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Okotoks Public Library. The free club aims to improve chess play and maintains a friendly environment where learning takes priority over winning. Chess sets and clocks are available. All ages welcome, drop in. The LEGO Club meets every Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. at the Okotoks Public Library. Kids aged six to 12 can enjoy playing with LEGO and meeting new friends in the free, drop-in activity. okotokslibrary.ca
